March Slice of Life Story Challenge: Day 25 of 31 / No One Does it Like Mommy

No One Does it Like Mommy

Will I ever be comfortable with the way in which others care for my child?

I am working in my office, and our babysitter is with my son.
I am supposed to be working, but instead I'm scrutinizing every
squeal
shriek
cry
giggle
gurgle
rattle
squeak.
Is he ok?
Does he need me?
Why isn't he napping?
Did he eat enough?
Why is the TV on?

It gets easier, right?

  1. It really does get easier, until they are teenagers and then it starts all over again. :)

  2. I was thinking the same thing as Deb!

  3. It is so hard to be around someone else taking care of your child. My daughter is 5 and I still want to take over- I resist but it is hard. Good luck!

  4. Yes, it does, Anna...somewhat. My kids are grown and far away, but i swear I am still listening for their sounds...it's part of the motherhood package.

  5. There's a chapter in Tina Fey's Bossypants when she talks about how her nanny clips her daughter's nails too short, but she's afraid to say anything to the nanny about it (Even though Tina is the boss at work and has no problem laying down the law there). I think about that often! It's so hard!
